Not the easiest spot to find, Tamborine Mountain Skatepark is hidden away at the back of the community centre. It’s an older style rough concrete park with a unique layout.
Tamborine Mountain Skatepark Elements
The skatepark starts of with one continuous rolling bank around the outside. It changes height and moves in and out creating hips. At one hip there’s metal coping running down the centre. On a small section of bank there’s coping running horizontally. In the middle of the flatland there’s a fun box. It’s made up of two joined quarter pipes that create a hip. It has a small triangular platform with coping. A low half pyramid with coping makes up the fun box and joins to the back of the quarters.
The park then moves into a bowl. It has a unique shape with one side being fairly straight and the other having large hips. There’s metal coping all round and a few ledges are set back about 1 foot on the platform. The bowl isn’t very deep, maybe 4 foot in height. It’s transitions are more bank than curved.
The skate park is surrounded by large trees so you may want to bring a broom for a smoother ride.
What’s Around
Parking is available in the community centre or on the other side of the park. You can’t see the skate park till you are right on top of it. Essentially you have to scoot down the side of the building and it’s on your right. There’s a few shops a short distance down the road.
If you’re heading west from the mountain, you can also try the Tamborine Village Skate Park. It’s at the base of the mountain near the Bearded Dragon.
