Laidley Skatepark

Here you’ll find one of the only two steel ramps in all of Ipswich and the Lockyer Valley. The Laidley Skate Park has a series of other obstacles as well for you to shred.

Laidley Skate Park Elements

Standing off to the side is a nice wide 5 foot high steel half pipe. It’s around 5 foot high with metal coping. Stairs lead down from one of the decks to the skate park proper.

Running across one side is a unique element. A very wide circle flat bank with a small curved quarter pipe cut out. The quarter has metal coping running around and back to the ground. The bank also has coping across the top and a full length deck that comes back to the flatland. In two corners there’s 1/4 pyramid style quarters and banks. Both are 4 foot high with a deck. One is a bank and a quarter pipe, the other 2 quarter pipes. There’s metal coping on all transitions.

In the centre of the park there’s a neat 3ft flat top transitioned pyramid. There’s also a flat rail. Over near the half pipe there’s a wide flat bank which transitions into a small micro ramp. On top is a hubba running down the side over a flat bank.

Between the half pipe and the new skate park is a few old elements on a broken bitumen track. There’s a rail and a large jump.

If you want to get a feel for the place and what the obstacles offer check out the videos section. There’s some serious scooter action on show. There’s riding of the ramp as well as the pyramids and banks. One of the vids also includes the Rosewood Skatepark which is also in the region.

What’s Around

There is a large sports precinct in the surrounds with heaps of fields and sporting clubs. You’ll find water, seats and shelters, basketball and netball courts. There’s cctv at this skate park. Parking is on the side of the road and the nearest shops are a fair roll away.

Laidley Skatepark Events

There’s not much in the way of scooter comps held out at Laidley, with Gatton Skatepark being a regular host. But you will find scheduled scooter coaching and clinics held here on school holidays.

How good is Laidley Skate Park?

There are plenty of reviews online for the recreational reserve as well as a bunch of ancient ones of the park by skateboarders. But most really have little to do with anything a scooter rider in todays age needs to know. I mean unless you want to know that the skatepark and surrounds are "nice" there's not much on offer. Skaters won't like the surface of this park much either with all the rubbish falling from trees, and are likely to stick to the ramp more than anything. If you have ridden this park, help fix that and share your thoughts and comments by adding a review. It's simple, fast, and your name will be up in lights and forever worshipped by other Scooter riders.
