Varsity Lakes Skatepark

At a glance, Varsity Lakes Skatepark looks huge. It’s skinny, but it stretches over a wide area and a small hill. It looks empty in parts, and packed in others. There’s only a few elements that attract the majority of scooter riders.

Varsity Lakes Skatepark Elements

Starting from the car park there’s a small street section. It has wall rides, micro ramps, grind boxes and stairs. It’s tight and packed close together. Leading down to the area is a 9 stair with rail and an 7 stair split with rail. Both sets on different angles and surrounded by hubbas.

The top of the stairs leads to a flat area with a rail and a small tight bank with grind box. The skate park then heads down the hill with heaps of stairs, euro gap stairs, hubbas, flat banks, and raised sections such as a rounded volcano.

At the other end of the park is the skate bowl. It starts off at 3ft in the shallow with a micro ramp style. This is a popular element in the park. The bowl then splits, one leads inside a cradle. The other out to the deeper bowl. They are split by a rounded raised section you can roll over. The deep end has a lot of flat and transitions ranging to around 10ft. There’s a flat extension, rainbow extension, roll in, with metal coping all round.

What’s Around

The skatepark has it’s own shelters and seats. There’s also water handy and amenities. There’s a car park at the entrance and street parking is also available. The train station is a short ride away and buses stop on the street. There’s a shop across the road and plenty more nearby.
