Coolum Skatepark

Coolum Skatepark is a wicked spot right along the beach at the Sunshine Coast. If you’re travelling by car, take the Yandina – Coolum Road exit off the Sunshine Motorway. Take it all the way down to the beach and you’re there.  It’s in Tickle Park next to the Surf Life Saving Club. This park has been around for a long time, and it finally got an upgrade in 2017.

Coolum Skate Park Features

The elements of the old park are still here as you’ll see at the entry. The 4 foot quarter on your immediate left as you enter is used for speed up onto the bank with a kinked rail. Or to the right of it is a shallow bowl, only 2-3 foot but great for getting some tricks down. That front section has a series of ledges in an L shape, building up the higher level deck that surrounds the impressive 7 foot bowl. This is the main standout of the park upgrade.

The large bowl is fast, and wraps around in a variation of a U shape. That forms a nice spine in the middle that widens out to a narrow 1 foot platform. On the far side of the bowl a higher section of about three metres slopes down either side. The new bowl section is really well covered by a large shade sail above, which is a good thing as that smooth concrete can be slippery.
