Grab yourself a fresh new set of scooter grips for your ride.
The inner diameter on scooter grips is universal, so they fit on all bars.
Grips are an important part of your ride as they connect you to your scooter. A good grip gives you good control, especially on those difficult tricks. As the sizes are universal, the choice you make comes down to personal preference, both style, texture and price.

The choices are endless
There are heaps of aftermarket scooter grips available online. They come in just about every colour palette and design you can imagine ranging from your basics through to two tone, mixed marble and bright and bold.
Many popular brands include them in their line-up, so you can stay true to your ride or mix and match. You’ll find grips from Envy, Apex, Ethic, Fuzion, Root Industries and more.
Comfort and Durability
Manufacturers are always working with the latest innovations to bring you the best gear they can at the best prices. As each generation is released you’ll find many adding extra comfort alongside added durability to their scooter grips. At the end of the day though, a general rule of thumb is that the softer the grip the faster it will wear.
Does size or shape matter?
In addition to the many visible variations, scooter grips also come in a range of lengths including 140mm, 160mm and 170mm. Too long for your liking? Try cutting them with scissors to the correct length. Some also offer a tapered design if that’s your thing. Signature grips are also on offer from select brands and riders.
How to fit scooter grips?
Mounting your grips isn’t the simplest of tasks unless you’ve got a bit of experience and the right know how. They are not an easy slip on item, else they would just as easily slip right off again. Not a good idea when you’re mid trick.
Tricks for fitting grips include spraying some form of liquid onto the bar and allowing it to dry. This could be window cleaner, hair spray or the like. You can also try running a batch of cable ties down the inside to help slip the grip onto the bar. Once you have it in position pull out the zip ties with a set of pliers or vice grips.
Another method involves using an air compressor. There are plenty of videos available online to help guide you through this process.
If all else fails, your local bike shop mechanic should be able to help you out. It may cost you a few bucks but you would hope they’ll get the job done the right way.
Remember that scooter grips are a commonly replaced part and should be done when ever they start to wear down. How are yours looking, is it time to upgrade?
Bar Ends
Aside from grips, you may be in the market for a new set of bar ends. We have you covered with these as well from a few manufacturers. It is always advisable to ride with bar ends as they can help protect your bars and keep them in shape longer. Why you ask? Because scooters do drop to the ground from time to time, and the first part to hit is normally the bar ends. They can get damaged quickly so look after them.
Note that bar ends come in different sizing for steel and aluminium bars. Some grips come included with both sets in the box.
